Overview
Substations and generation facilities are where the grid's complexity concentrates: high-voltage switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, auxiliary plant, and a long tail of supporting electrical and mechanical hardware.
MCI supplies and installs across the full balance-of-plant scope. We work with project developers, EPC contractors, and operators to procure correctly-specified equipment, mobilise installation crews, and support commissioning sequences.
Our experience covers AIS and GIS substations, step-up and distribution transformers, control room equipment, auxiliary AC/DC systems, and the wide range of fittings, fasteners, and electrical hardware that a generation facility actually needs on-site.
Our scope in generation & substations
- Air-insulated (AIS) and gas-insulated (GIS) substation equipment, switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors
- Power and distribution transformers, step-up, step-down, and auxiliary
- Protection, control, and SCADA equipment with associated wiring and panels
- Auxiliary AC/DC systems, battery banks, chargers, UPS, distribution boards
- Substation steel structures, gantries, and equipment supports
- Cable management, high-voltage cables, control cables, glands, and accessories
- Installation, testing, and commissioning support with experienced engineering teams
Where this work fits
Substations are being built across MENA at pace, driven by both load growth in major urban centres and the integration of renewable generation in remote sites. In African markets, substations are often the bottleneck in extending grid reliability. Across Europe, GIS retrofits and digital substation upgrades are increasingly common.
MCI's role is to source equipment from credible manufacturers, coordinate technical reviews on specifications, and deliver the supporting installation work that completes the build.
